Student | Full-time | United KingdomMSc Public Health
Educational/professional background
I completed my BSc in Biomedical Science at Keele University, with a dissertation targeting DENV-2 Ectodomain III residue binding in arbovirus infections. Following this, I worked at The Royal College of Surgeons of England as an International Surgical Examinations Officer. I developed a passion for health promotion as a Mary's Meals volunteer, fundraising for nutritional access in places of education within a global feeding programme across 16 countries.
Research interests or career goals
My career prospects are in health policy, resource optimisation and community-based empowerment with a focus on Sexual and Reproductive Health – inspired by frequent encounters of health inequity and reproductive injustice. My previous research covered medical anthropology, international women’s groups, and the moral & ethical considerations regarding the inclusion of pregnant women in clinical trials.
Why I chose LSHTM/my programme
I learnt of LSHTM through my position as President of the Keele Friends of Médecins sans Frontières Chapter. I then attended a MARCH Centre Lecture with this discussion propagating my enthusiasm to learn from progressive specialists. Most lecturers are active researchers, so the possibility of professional and academic erudition is boundless. There is also a strong student cohort, with people from all over the world bringing a wealth of perspectives.
