Educational/professional background

I finished my medical school in Japan in 2022, and straight after, I went to a master's degree at LSHTM, completing MSc Public Health in 2023. Once I returned to Japan and completed my residency, I started in the Joint PhD Programme for Global Health at LSHTM and Nagasaki University in 2025.

Research interests or career goals

My research is focusing on Infectious diseases, especially Antimicrobial Resistance. However, I also conducted some research in the medical AI field, utilising image recognition. After completing my degree, I would like to continue researching alongside clinical work as a medical professional.

Why I chose LSHTM/my programme

My future aspiration is to contribute to an international medical volunteer organisation such as Doctors Without Borders. I am currently aiming to be there as either an epidemiologist or an infectious disease specialist. LSHTM is one of the prestigious schools for Public health and infectious diseases. When I completed my MSc in Public Health, I genuinely felt that I wanted to continue studying at this school, and I decided to return as a PhD student.
