MSc Public Health for Global Practice

Estie Agbara

Educational/professional background

I am a Paediatric Nurse by background. I worked in a Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) for two and a half years in the private sector. Additionally, I volunteer my time as a Women 4 Women (W4W) Champion for Positive East, supporting women living with HIV. I am also currently serving as the Vice President of Communications and Activities for the LSHTM Student Representative Council (SRC).

Research interests or career goals

My primary research interests lie in Maternal and Child Health in the context of Nigeria and similar settings. I am particularly interested in translating evidence into policy to improve primary healthcare accessibility and outcomes, specifically focusing on preventative care, and addressing major public health concerns like; childhood infectious diseases and malnutrition. My goal is to work with international health organizations to drive global public health strategies.

Why I chose LSHTM/my programme

I chose LSHTM due to its world-renowned ranking in public health, its undeniable global impact in research and policy, and its incredible professional network. The MSc Public Health for Global Practice particularly appealed to me because it directly aligns with my goal of addressing complex health issues in low and middle-income settings, preparing me to be a practical leader in global health.
