Eliana Sasson
Student | Full-time | United States of AmericaMSc Public Health
Educational/professional background
I am studying for the MSc Public Health full-time on the General Stream. I am from New York, United States, and recently graduated with a B.A. in Cellular and Molecular Biology and a minor in Science and Public Policy from Barnard College of Columbia University in the spring of 2025.
Research interests or career goals
I am interested in infectious diseases and antimicrobial resistance, as well as pathogens of high concern, such as those potentially used in bioterrorism events and outbreaks. During my undergrad, I researched a specialized and weaponized strain of anthrax to determine the current antimicrobial resistance status and how it impacts virulence. Later, I plan to go to medical school and specialize in infectious diseases.
Why I chose LSHTM/my programme
I chose LSHTM for the unique global education and opportunities the school provides. Additionally, the diversity of the student body and LSHTM’s reputation and recommendations from my former professors solidified my decision!
Extra information
I have lived in the United States my entire life, first in Omaha and then in New York. It is my first time studying abroad, and I am really enjoying my time in London so far! I am happy to share my experiences transitioning directly from a United States-based undergraduate program to a United Kingdom-based Master's!
