Educational/professional background

I am a third-year medical student intercalating to MSc Nutrition for Global Health at LSHTM from the University of Hong Kong. I was born and raised in Hong Kong but studied in an Australian international school.

Research interests or career goals

As a future clinician, I hope to promote health in a more holistic manner as nutrition is an area which is applicable to any and all patients. I am particularly interested in the role of nutrition in non-communicable diseases and wish to explore the nuanced considerations when translating research into national or global health policies.

Why I chose LSHTM/my programme

I have always been interested in nutrition, exercise and lifestyle changes that are the foundations of preventative medicine. Medical curriculum often focuses on management and treatment, and I wish to pursue a more comprehensive understanding of the role of nutrition in health as well as the ways in which governments can bridge the gap between knowledge and practice.

I chose LSHTM due to its rich history, emphasis on research, and multidisciplinary community. This is because LSHTM allows me to delve deeper into scientific research and acquire soft skills while providing an enriching experience surrounded by a diverse student body.
