Carrie Wyncoll
Student | Full-time | United KingdomMSc Control of Infectious Diseases
Educational/professional background
I graduated from the University of Manchester in 2025, with a BSc in Biology with Science and Society. For my dissertation, I investigated medical students’ attitudes towards Deaf awareness courses — Deaf access to healthcare being a topic I am particularly passionate about, in addition to infectious diseases. Alongside my studies, I have spent time over the past two summers volunteering with a health charity in London, supporting the collection of impact data from their health and wellbeing community groups.
Research interests or career goals
Currently I am especially drawn to the study of neglected tropical diseases and nosocomial infections, but I am keen to keep exploring the many career paths within the field of control of infectious diseases.
Why I chose LSHTM/my programme
I first heard about LSHTM from family and friends who had really enjoyed their time studying here. Its strong reputation in infectious disease research and public health has made it the ideal place for my postgraduate studies. The interdisciplinary nature of the MSc Control of Infectious Diseases course stood out to me, as well as the wide range of optional modules that will allow me to tailor the course to my specific interests.
