MSc Public Health

Bethany Barnett

Educational/professional background

Hi there! I’m Bethany. I recently graduated from UCL studying BSc Anthropology, where I specialised in Medical Anthropology and women’s health. I have taken these interests into my studies here at LSHTM, where I’m learning more about the intersection of women’s health and health in conflict.

Research interests or career goals

I hope to work in a global setting, possibly at an NGO or other organisation where I can focus my interests in sexual violence and ethically appropriate qualitative research.

Why I chose LSHTM/my programme

I was attracted to LSHTM due to its international outset for learning and its global prestige – plus being based in London, which is a great city to live in when you’re young. MSc Public Health was my course option because it enables me to keep a broad understanding of what health is and how I can impact it, whilst also allowing the flexibility to explore my niches and interests. Now I am hoping to specialise in the Public Health Promotion stream.

Extra information

I have gone straight from my UG degree to Master's and come from a relatively unusual academic background for Public Health, so please get in touch if you have any questions or concerns!
