Educational/professional background
Hi there! I recently relocated to London to pursue my MSc Control of Infectious Diseases and I am really enjoying it so far! I moved from Denmark to England in 2014, so I’ll be happy to answer any questions about adapting to an unfamiliar culture in a foreign country. Last summer, I completed my BSc in Biotechnology and Microbiology with a strong emphasis on biomedical and health modules. Since then, I have worked as a research assistant within the MRC, as well as in dengue virus research in Thailand. These experiences certainly contributed to my interest in disease control and reasons for choosing the MSc course here at LSHTM.
Research interests or career goals
I am fairly new to infectious disease research and therefore hope to learn more about the field throughout my course, to help shape my future career path. At the moment, I am very interested in outbreak responses within rural communities in low-resource settings.
Why I chose LSHTM/my programme
LSHTM offered me the opportunity to study amongst and learn from people from a wide range of backgrounds, whilst gaining in-depth knowledge and transferable skills within epidemiology.
