Alina Wilson
Student | Full-time | United States of AmericaMSc Control of Infectious Diseases
Educational/professional background
I graduated from Stanford University in 2024 with a Bachelor of Arts with Honors in Human Biology. My work in infectious disease and public health spans Switzerland, Taiwan, South Africa, Chile, and the United States, through organizations including the Global Financing Facility for Women, Children, and Adolescents; Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance; the Gates Foundation; Doctors Without Borders (MSF); Stanford School of Medicine; Santa Clara County Department of Public Health; and Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. These experiences have shown me how local context, global policy, and scientific evidence must align to improve health outcomes.
Research interests or career goals
I am committed to strengthening pandemic preparedness and infectious disease control by integrating population-level epidemiology with health systems research. My work focuses on the intersection of scientific evidence, policy decisions, and community engagement to improve outbreak responses and ensure equitable healthcare access, especially for historically underserved communities.
Why I chose LSHTM/my programme
I was drawn to LSHTM for its multidisciplinary approach to infectious disease and for its emphasis on tackling disease control challenges from multiple perspectives. I am excited to learn from, and contribute to, a community that is passionate about evidence-driven, equitable solutions to global health challenges.
