MSc Reproductive & Sexual Health Research

Aastha Subedi

Educational/professional background

I am a public health practitioner from Nepal with over seven years of experience working in sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) across Nepal and the Asia-Pacific region. I have led youth-centered programs, conducted mixed-methods research, and worked with organizations such as Jhpiego/USAID, FP2030, and national and regional youth SRHR networks. I have experience designing and facilitating policy advocacy, research, and large-scale SRHR programs for young people, including those from marginalized groups.

Research interests or career goals

My research interests include adolescent and youth SRHR, abortion access and stigma, gender and power, intersectionality, and advancing rights-based SRHR policies in low and middle-income countries. My long-term goal is to pursue a PhD and work at the intersection of research, policy, and youth advocacy to strengthen equity-focused SRHR programming globally. I think interests and goals are bound to expand as I learn and grow.

Why I chose LSHTM/my programme

I chose LSHTM because of its global leadership in reproductive and sexual health research and its strong emphasis on methodological rigour, applied research, and policy relevance. The MSc Reproductive & Sexual Health Research aligned perfectly with my academic interests and my professional experience. It offered the opportunity to learn from world-renowned researchers, access cutting-edge evidence, and build skills that I can apply directly to improving SRHR outcomes in Nepal and the broader Asia-Pacific region. Being a Chevening Scholar also motivated me to choose LSHTM as the ideal place to strengthen my expertise and leadership.
