Workshop 2: Reframing access to colonial medical photography
A guided in-person workshop based around the viewing of colonial medical photograph collection from LSHTM Archives.
Following our webinar LINK, this workshop invites attendees to view and explore the LSHTM Archives collection of colonial medical photography albums containing images from Sri Lanka, Cameroon and pre-partition India. Our staff and an external facilitator will host a mediated viewing, allowing professional peers and community members to contribute directly to future approaches to the use and storage of these materials.
Some of the images and their annotations may be distressing for participants. Attendees are free to navigate the space and encouraged to go at their own pace and take a break or leave whenever suits them. We recognise that different people will experience these images differently and all attendees should respect each other’s space and responses.
