Network to fight health misinformation in the UK

The London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) is calling for expressions of interest in a network to help combat dangerous health misinformation in the UK.

We want to hear from universities, funders, charities, and public and private sector bodies, as well as individual experts, about how they might want to be involved. This will help to inform a detailed proposal for a network.

The idea is to create an ‘operational’ network involving both academic experts and communications professionals to facilitate the sharing of intelligence on health misinformation attacks and help members create effective media and social media interventions.

The network would also bring together UK public-health focused universities, as well as health charities, funders, and government to discuss opportunities for collaboration on media and social media interventions on specific health misinformation topics.

We are looking for members who would be willing to contribute any of the following:

  • Time and expertise
  • Resources such as monitoring or social listening tools
  • Funding or resource to support the running of the network
  • Funding or resource to produce public-facing reports
  • Run/host network events or workshops
