Harm reduction reading group meeting

Green slide with LSHTM Event in white text

The Harm Reduction Group welcomes Dr Benjamin Weil from The Love Tank CIC to discuss the use of Doxy PrEP/PEP (the use of doxycycline to avoid STIs) for chemsex. Doxy PrEP/PEP offers the same possibility as HIV PrEP/PEP, but for the sexual transmission of bacterial infections - yet there is a degree of hesitance about the tool. In this talk, the speaker will take this critical moment to appraise a technology-in-the-making and consider how and whether we might discursively or clinically intervene in its reception and uptake.

The speaker will explore the tension between research, activism, and lived experiences. In advance of the meeting, attendees are encouraged to read What a skewed sense of values’: Discussing PreP in the British Press.
