Mr Shotaro Togawa

Research Student - DrPH - Public Health & Policy

United Kingdom

I am a research degree student in Doctorate of Public Health (DrPH) programme at LSHTM and also working for Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

I have consistently engaged in Japanese bilateral cooperation for health sector development during more than 10 years of my professional career. My work experience has been located in multiple countries ranging from the Middle East to sub-Saharan Africa, and most recently I was based in Senegal. My doctoral research is to assess equity of the health financing system in Senegal, empirically drawing on extended data from household surveys, and to understand the policymaking process for universal health insurance in the country.

I hold MPhil in Development Studies from University of Cape Town, South Africa, and MA in Human Security Studies from University of Tokyo, Japan.
