I have a background in mathematics and medical statistics and joined LSHTM in Feb 2014 after previously working at the University of Edinburgh. From 2014 to 2020 I was based in East Africa, first in Tanzania at Mwanza Intervention Trials Unit (MITU), and subsequently at the MRC/UVRI/LSHTM Uganda Unit where I headed the statistics section. I currently also hold a position with Statens Serum Institut in Copenhagen working on COVID-19 epidemiology. I am a member of the MRC International Statistics and Epidemiology Group.
My research interests include HIV epidemiology and non-communicable diseases in Sub-Saharan Africa, COVID-19, clinical trials methodology, statistical modelling, estimation of vaccine effectiveness.

I teach on Practical Research Skills (module number 3462 – slot C1) which I helped set up and have helped organise since 2016.
Research
I am Trial Statistician on the multi-arm adaptive PrEPVacc HIV vaccine trial currently recruiting in South Africa, Tanzania and Uganda.
My recent work in NCDs includes (1) a modelling study on the measurement of renal function through eGFR equations, and estimation of the prevalence of chronic kidney disease across numerous countries in SSA; (2) prevalence studies from Tanzania and Uganda describing high levels of unexplained elevated blood pressure among children, adolescents and young adults.
My work on COVID-19 epidemiology includes studies of vaccine effectiveness and natural immunity after SARS-CoV-2 infection.
