Educational/professional background

I hold a BSc in Cytotechnology from Makerere University Kampala. However, during my Bachelor's degree, l became very interested in learning research and developing a research career which motivated me to take several online short courses on research design and implementation. Most of my work experience after school has been around reproductive health research among women in Uganda. For example, I worked as the study coordinator for a research project assessing the barriers and facilitators to Female Genital Schistosomiasis Screening among women in Eastern Uganda before coming for MSc Reproductive & Sexual Health Research at LSHTM.

Research interests or career goals

My present research interests are around maternal and child health in developing countries. I also have several other areas in reproductive and sexual health that appeal to me adolescent sexual and reproductive health, sexually transmitted infections (STIs) specifically HIV and reproductive health cancers. I am confident that my research interests and ambitions will evolve over time and l am open to this.

Why I chose LSHTM/my programme

I chose to study the MSc Reproductive & Sexual Health Research at LSHTM because l was greatly inspired by the quality of research that the school is doing in my country, Uganda, specifically in reproductive and sexual health. I am particularly inspired by Professor Joy Lawn’s work in maternal and child health in my country.
