Educational/professional background
I studied BSc Biochemistry at Imperial College London, with a year abroad spent in Marseille, France. I graduated in 2017 and worked for the last six years, most recently for UKHSA in a public health laboratory, before starting my MSc Medical Microbiology at LSHTM.
Research interests or career goals
I’m particularly interested in the molecular aspects of medical microbiology, for example host-pathogen interactions and the mechanisms of antimicrobial resistance. After my MSc I’m hoping to do a PhD to explore these interests in greater depth.
Why I chose LSHTM/my programme
I chose my programme as I had experience working in a microbiology laboratory but wanted to gain a more in-depth knowledge of the subject in the context of human disease. I was attracted to LSHTM by its focus on addressing global health challenges, and its reputation for high quality teaching and impactful research.

- Scholarships - I am one of the Next Generation Scholars so I’m happy to talk about my experience of applying for this scholarship with eligible prospective students.
- Returning to education after working - this was something I was apprehensive about before joining LSHTM so I can give advice on this.
- Life in London – I’ve been living here for 10 years so I’m happy to answer questions about moving to/living in London (or the UK in general).
