Educational/professional background
I’m an Emergency Physician from Ethiopia and now studying MSc Public Health. I had been working for the government during the COVID-19 response both as a clinician and a leader for 2 years. I have also been working at AaBET, a trauma center located in Addis Ababa, the capital city of Ethiopia.
Research interests/career goal
I went from being a doctor who wholeheartedly believed in clinical medicine to a public health enthusiast when I realized that most of the problems we face in the hospital, both as a doctor and a patient, were the results of health care policies. I would like to do research which would inform policy for better emergency health care provision in LMICs.
Why I chose LSHTM/my programme
I felt that LSHTM had academics who had done the job of changing health care systems all around the world. I thought that the sheer amount of experience in the School will teach and inspire me a lot, not just in classrooms but outside as well.
