Educational/professional background

I am a third-year medical student at The University of Hong Kong, currently intercalating at LSHTM to pursue the MSc Reproductive & Sexual Health Research.

Research interests or career goals

I have an interest in sexual & reproductive health and rights issues linked to humanitarian crises, conflict and migration. I am particularly interested in gender-based violence, and the compounded challenges that women and children face in humanitarian settings. After my MSc, I will return to medical school in Hong Kong to complete my training. In the future, I hope to combine my role as a clinician with the skills gained from this MSc to explore how healthcare can be made more equitable and accessible globally.

Why I chose LSHTM/my programme

Although I have an overarching interest in global health, I specifically chose my programme as it effectively merged my interests with other disciplines, such as epidemiology and the social sciences. At LSHTM, there are numerous opportunities to collaborate and learn from a diverse body of students. Each student has a different background, and each contributes their unique perspective to discussions. Likewise, the staff and teaching body are similarly diverse, which makes the LSHTM learning environment very vibrant and eye-opening!

Any extra information

I am an intercalating medical student, so would be happy to advise prospective students with specific questions about this!
