Educational/professional background

I graduated in May 2021 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Science from Boston University. 

Research interests or career goals

After LSHTM, I plan to apply to medical school in the US in the hopes of becoming an infectious disease physician. Later in my life, I would also like to work with a program such as Doctors Without Borders utilizing my global health background as well.  

Why I chose LSHTM/my programme

Before I applied to LSHTM, I already knew that I wanted to specialize in infectious diseases. However, I also had a curiosity in how the immune system response differs in a healthy vs a diseased state. Although I had these interests, I did not have much experience in either field. So, after discovering that LSHTM had a degree focused on infectious diseases through the lens of immunology, it was the perfect fit. My hope is to be a well-rounded physician who appreciates the intricacies of the immune response to infection from the clinical manifestations down to specific cytokines. Additionally, I was drawn to the global health focus of LSHTM, which aligns with my undergraduate background in diminishing the social determinants of health.
