Educational/professional background
Hello! My name is Hannah McGregor, and my background is in both communicable diseases and non-communicable diseases. I completed my undergrad in Canada at Queen’s University in 2023. In my undergrad I completed a research project in Epidemiology which evaluated the ability of a novel frailty index to predict costs in a cardiac surgery setting for patients in Ontario. At LSHTM I focused on modelling the effect of nutritional support for TB household contacts.
What I enjoyed most about studying my programme/at LSHTM
The best part of studying at LSHTM was meeting people from diverse backgrounds who shared a passion for learning more about Epidemiology. My cohort included individuals with a wide range of experiences, which helped me see Epidemiology from different perspectives. This has made me both a better person and a better epidemiologist.
What I have been doing since graduating
Since graduating, I have started a PhD at the University of Auckland in New Zealand. This project will hopefully help explore the dynamics of pertussis in Aotearoa, New Zealand by modelling the spread of disease in different age groups but also ethnic groups. Because of LSHTM, I was able to find this project and meet with the supervisor at the school!
