Educational/professional background

I graduated with a BSc in Global Resource Systems (Global Health & Infectious Disease specialisation) from the University of British Columbia in 2021. I am currently working remotely, part-time, as a research assistant looking at HIV risk in female sex workers.

Research interests or career goals

I’m interested in the intersection of parasitic diseases and sexual and reproductive health – I am particularly interested in female genital schistosomiasis and coinfection with STIs.

Why I chose LSHTM/my programme

I chose the Medical Parasitology programme for its emphasis on developing practical skills, and for the opportunity to learn from some of the world’s leading researchers. Parasitology appealed to me as it was an area I didn’t get much exposure to during my undergrad, and yet is an extremely important area in terms of global disease burden. I was drawn to LSHTM due to its global focus and the highly international student body.
