As a Student Liaison Officer (SLO) you will:
- Be an official representative of one of the Centres and the voice of the student body
- Help to forge a community spirit with fellow students and build links throughout LSHTM's global community
- Develop your interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills
- Gain opportunities for academic and social networking with fellow students and staff
- Gain an in-depth understanding of topic area outside of the curriculum
- Receive official recognition of your work to add to your CV
SLOs can contribute to Centres in a number of ways, depending on your particular set of skills/capabilities and preferences.
Responsibilities
- Generate comms ideas and themes to promote the work and events of Centres to the student body
- Produce comms required by the Centre e.g. newsletter, blog post/website article, content for social media
- Support Centres with organising and promoting internal student events e.g. careers fairs/event/clubs, student networking events
- Where relevant collaborate with other Centre SLOs on joint activities
- You may be asked to attend Centre management or steering committee meetings to be the voice of the student body
- Work alongside the Centre PhD student representative (if there is one) on the above
Commitment
SLOs should contribute throughout the year but this is expected to be heavier at the start of the academic term. Once you are in post you will meet the Centres staff to agree commitments. You will be supported in this role by your chosen Centre’s staff and Comms & Engagement staff
