2023-24 Amanda Jaclyn Berger Research & Travelling Scholarship

This scholarship has been established to honour the memory of Amanda Berger, who was a student on the London-based MSc Public Health in 2011-12. 

This scholarship, with a total award value of GBP 3,000.00, is intended to help fund research and travel costs associated with the MSc projects of MSc Public Health students. The total funding may be awarded to a single student or split between up to 6 students (minimum award amount of GBP 500.00).

Eligibility for funding

This scholarship is only open to students currently registered on the intensive MSc Public Health programme at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (it is not available to students registered on MSc Public Health for Development.)

Funding is only available for projects on non-communicable diseases in a low- to middle-income country (LMIC), as per the World Bank list. Please note: this scholarship should not support payments for research assistants and/or field staff.

Students returning to their (LMIC) home-country for the MSc project may apply for this travelling scholarship as long as their project is not desk-based.

How to apply

Applicants must submit, in a single email to the Scholarships team:

  • a completed 2023-24 Current MSc Students’ Scholarships Application Form (.xls). Please complete all four tabs of the excel document (Application Form, Project Outline, Budget, and Timetable):
    • The budget should provide a full list of projected costs for the MSc project, and include justification for the costs. Please highlight which costs are to be covered by the scholarship, as well as show details of how other costs will be covered.
  • In a separate word document or in an additional tab in the application form please also provide a paragraph outlining how you hope to use the work undertaken in your project in the future.

Incomplete applications will not be considered for this funding.
