Tell us about your role at LSHTM and what a typical day looks like for you.

I support seven Centres in total (CCCH, Malaria, MARCH, CfE, GHECO, TB, and HHCC), so my days vary quite a bit depending on what each Centre needs. That said, every day starts the same—with a good cup of tea! I handle queries, coordinate with internal and external providers, join online and in-person meetings, and support events both onsite and off-site.

What do you enjoy most about supporting events at the Centre?

I’ve had the chance to meet some truly charismatic speakers whose knowledge and passion have been so inspiring, they’ve even motivated me to go and do my own research into their topics.

What’s one behind-the-scenes thing most people don’t realise goes into organising an event?

Lots of teamwork and creativity! There’s negotiation with organisers, suppliers, venues—it’s a lot more detailed than people think.

How do you stay organised when juggling multiple events or tasks? Any go-to tools or tips?

Trello is a lifesaver, and I also use OneNote regularly. But honestly, I function best when I take a little break in the middle of the day—my dog makes sure that happens, rain or shine!

What’s one thing you’ve learned or appreciated about working with the Centre team?

I wouldn’t be able to do nearly as much without my amazing colleagues in the Comms & Engagement department. Thanks to them, everything runs smoothly—and it really shows how much we all depend on one another’s work.

When you’re not working, where can we find you?

Most likely on the North Downs Way or South Downs Way, or somewhere in Surrey skipping over rivers on wobbly pieces of wood or slippery stones.
