Chido joined LSHTM in 2021 as an Assistant Professor and is the Principal Investigator for the “Sexually transmitted infections in CHIEDZA (STICH)” project. She is based in Zimbabwe where she works on research projects at the Biomedical Research and Training Institute.
Chido obtained her first degree in Biomedical Science with Business form the University of Newcastle upon Tyne then did a distance learning MSc in Epidemiology at LSHTM. She completed her PhD which was an evaluation of HIV testing strategies for children and adolescents in facility and community-based settings with LSHTM.

Chido is the Programme Director for the MSc in Sexual and Reproductive Health Policy and Programming and lectures in the Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) and Understanding and Applying Research Evidence (UARE) modules on the MSc. Chido also lectures on the LSHTM HIV module and the Control of Sexually Transmitted infections Module. She is also a seminar leader for the Sexual Health Module.
Research
Chido's research interests include HIV, sexually transmitted infections and sexual and reproductive health among adolescents and youth. She is currently the principal investigator for the STICH trial which is evaluating the impact of community based STI screening and comprehensive management on population level STI prevalence among youth and Zimbabwe lead investigator for the GIFT study which is a multi-centre observational clinical trial to compare the feasibility and performance of the Genital InFlammation Test (GIFT) for detection of STIs and bacterial vaginosis.
Her other research has involved the evaluation of Sexual and Reproductive Health Interventions for youth (CHIEDZA trial) and HIV testing strategies including caregiver provided testing for children and evaluation of community-based support interventions for children living with HIV (B-GAP Study and ZENITH Trial).
