I am an Assistant Professor at LSHTM and a member of the Population Health Innovation Lab (PHI|Lab). My main research interests are in the social and environmental determinants of diet and health inequalities.
I am currently working on the Mandala project, which aims to improve human and planetary health through transforming the urban food system. Using Birmingham (UK) as a case study, we will collect and curation data to evaluate food system interventions on their ability to make food healthier, more affordable and less harmful to the environment, but still profitable for businesses. In my previous work, I evaluated the impact of restricting advertising of HFSS (high fat, salt and sugar) products across the Transport for London network on food and drink purchasing.
I have a Masters degree in Nutrition for Global Health from LSHTM and I completed my PhD at the University of Cambridge. My PhD work explored social inequalities in diet, focusing on food insecurity in the UK and dietary differences by ethnicity and socioeconomic position.
