Voices for change: Elevating stillbirths on the health agenda

Exploring stillbirth as a neglected issue with stalled progress in Africa, despite effective interventions.

MARCH event card

Stillbirth remains one of the most neglected issues in maternal and newborn health, with progress lagging despite the availability of effective interventions.

The recent State of Africa’s Stillbirths report, launched at the International Maternal Newborn Health Conference (IMNHC), highlights stalled progress and the urgent need for integrated, data-driven, and people-centred action. The IMNHC 2026 launch was accompanied by a consultation process on “Voices for Change” bringing together over 200 stakeholders, amplifying parent voices.

In this webinar, co-hosted by the MARCH Centre, the University of Cape Town and International Stillbirth Alliance, speakers will share key findings from the State of Africa’s Stillbirths report and highlight priorities emerging from the IMNHC “voices for change” consultation to the wider global Maternal Newborn Health community.

The aim is to translate evidence into global momentum, inform the upcoming Lancet Stillbirth Series, and engage policymakers, clinicians, researchers, and civil society in actionable steps to elevate stillbirths within maternal and newborn health agendas.
