After gaining a BSc (hons) in Biological and Biochemical Sciences at the University of Salford, I studied for a MSc in Environmental Biology at the University of Wales, Cardiff, before working as a clinical scientist at the Public Health Laboratory Services in Colindale, London on national surveillance systems for HIV, influenza and Legionnaire's Disease.
A personal interest in environmental issues led me to read for a PhD in Environmental Sciences at Imperial College, where my research was on the social, economic and environmental evalaution of three way catalytic converters in motor cars, for which I was suppported with a ESRC CASE award.
I joined LSHTM in 2000, to work on a literature review of occupational exposure to Polycicilic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAH). I have continued with research on various environmental impacts on health since this time.
