I am a physician researcher with interest in key global health issues that impact people's health in LMICs. Recently, the focus of my research has been maternal-newborn-child health (infections, diagnostics, vaccines) and health systems strengthening.
I have an experience of leading grant-funded clinical research and global health projects in low-resource settings (maternal-neonatal infections, outpatient antimicrobial use for childhood ARI, mortality surveillance using minimally-invasive tissue sampling, COVID-19 response and ethics, health facilities survey for health technology and quality of care, climate-sensitive diseases, etc.). Previously, I worked as a research fellow for invasive bacterial disease (IBD) and PCV vaccine impact studies in Nepal that were led by the Oxford Vaccine Group.
Besides research, I have also advised Nepal government's health programmes in the capacity of a technical adviser and consultant for development agencies. I have served numerous scientific and advisory committees within global institutions such as, Inter-Academy Partnership, UK Academy of Medical Sciences, NIHR, UKRI, International Science Council, International Society for Urban Health, CUGH and Global Young Academy. I am an active member of ESPID and Vaccine networks.
At LSHTM, I am enrolled into Joint LSHTM-Nagasaki doctoral programme for Global health, with a feasibility-pilot study on setting up an RCT in Nepal that investigates the effectiveness of POC tests (current focus on hand-held ultrasound) for diagnosis and management of lower respiratory infections in children.
Additionally, I spare time for a newly incorporated non-profit organization- Global Health Research & Medical Interventions for Development (GlohMed), which promotes and implements clinical/global health research in Nepal and elsewhere in partnership with local, regional, and global institutions and expert groups. Please reach out for collaboration.
