Did you know that to read an entire PhD thesis out loud it would take around 9 hours? Now imagine summarising it in just 3 minutes! This is the challenge our brave research degree students are attempting in the 3 minute thesis finals.

Three Minute Thesis is a national competition that challenges PhD students to give clear and engaging 3 minute presentations about complex research topics, with no props other than a single PowerPoint slide.

What are the finalists talking about?:

Natassia Brenman: Mental health at the margins
Priya Morjaria: To see or not to see - Why is it a question?
Nyawira Mwangi: Are we fast enough to outrun this epidemic?
Matthew Quaife: Sex, risk and preferences
Natalie Savona: Who chose your breakfast?
Yovitha Sedekia: Delaying first birth

Come and cheer on all six finalists and vote for your favourite research communicator!

One lucky winner will take away a top prize of £500, and will represent the School in the 2016 national semi-final, coordinated by Vitae. There is also a £250 prize for second place and a special prize for the audience’s favourite presentation.
