Innovations in Data Collection
This seminar will explore the use of electronic devices and software tools available to collect research data in the field. Each speaker will provide a case study of a specific research project, describing the approach they took to gather data, practical challenges that were encountered and how these were addressed.
Case studies will be provided by the following researchers:
Carlos Oya, Reader in the Political Economy of Development, SOAS
Dr. Oya will discuss the use of computer-assisted interviewing and his experience of using Survey Solutions in research.
Keith Tomlin, Assistant Professor in the Department of Disease Control, LSHTM
Keith will discuss a modular household survey that was performed in Ethiopia as part of the IDEAS project and the evaluation process that led to the choice of CSPro.
