Improving Health London-wide: Showcasing London research from the London School

London is one of the world’s richest and most well-known cities.  It generates enormous wealth, but experiences some of the UK’s most stark inequalities. It is home to over an eighth of the UK population and includes a huge diversity of people and cultures – often living in close proximity to one another, yet experiencing widely divergent lifestyles, environments and health trajectories.

The London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine has a long history of studying the health of Londoners. On the 6 November we invite you to come and hear about some of this work – both old and new. We will showcase presentations and panel discussions on many of the most important factors affecting the health of the city – and some potential ways forward for reducing social inequalities in health. Themes will include:

  • Improving health through transport
  • Improving health for vulnerable and high risk groups
  • Sexual health in the city
  • Healthy environments

The event will tie in with the Greater London Authority (GLA) consultation on its new Health Inequalities Strategy and will be attended by local policy and practitioner invitees as well as researchers. There will be networking time for participants, including a drinks reception. Please come along and help us improve health London-wide.

Drinks reception from 5.00-6.30pm.
