How do we create healthy, active schools?

Increasing levels of obesity and physical inactivity have raised concerns across Europe. In the United Kingdom over a third of children leave school classified as obese. Schools are key sites in attempts to improve health and wellbeing in children. This event will explore ways to make schools healthier and more active places. Drawing on experiences from Norway and London, this one day session will bring together perspectives from researchers, practitioners, and educators on techniques for improving health, wellbeing, and physical activity in schools.

Geir Kåre Resaland from the Sogn og Fjordane University College in Norway, along with Tom Wergaland from Trudvang school, will describe their experiencs of promoting physical activity and health through the school curriculum and these will be complemented with case studies from the UK.
