Going Under the Knife: Keeping Surgery Safe Through Data
The School is delighted to be taking part in the Pint of Science Festival again this year! Here are the details of our final talk in the series: -
Keeping Surgery Safe Through Data
Speakers include Kate Walker (Lecturer in Medical Statistics) and Katriina Heikkila (Lecturer in Health Services Research & Policy).
Many medical procedures involve some form of risk though this can vary between people, procedures, and locations. Why is the same surgery higher risk for some people? Can having surgery at one hospital truly be more risky than another? Join hospital data specialists Katriina and Kate as they discuss what goes in to the accurate evaluation of risk when you go under the knife and the hospital data that helps us to better understand these risks, making surgery safer.
Doors at 7pm, event starts 7:30pm
