Final Dissemination Meeting of the SPEAK India Consortium
Contributions of the Operational Research Programme Towards Sustainable Elimination of Visceral Leishmaniasis (VL) in India
The VL Consortium ‘Setting the Post Elimination Agenda for Kala-Azar in India (SPEAK-India) was launched by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) in partnership with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MOHFW), Directorate of National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme (NVBDCP), London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) on 3 – 5 November 2016 in New Delhi.
The aim was to identify and define the key questions, knowledge gaps and data needs that should be addressed for the VL elimination goal to be achieved and sustained, in the future. Subsequently, four operational research projects addressing the cross-cutting themes of surveillance, transmission, health systems and mathematical modelling were launched in 2018.
It gives us great pleasure to inform you that this research is nearing completion.
The purpose of our final meeting, to be held virtually on 21 and 22 September 2021, is to disseminate the research findings of the SPEAK consortium to major stakeholders engaged with the implementation of the VL elimination programme. The event will also be an opportunity to discuss future needs.
