The epidemic of microcephaly in Brazil: a public health emergency
The epidemic of microcephaly in Brazil ( suspected to be caused by congenital infection with Zika virus) reached 3000 notified cases. This could expand to all countries where there is dengue as Zika is transmitted by the same vector. Laura Rodrigues has been in Brazil and will report on the epidemic, control issues and research priorities.
