Do innovations enhance interactions between families and front-line health workers in Nigeria, Ethiopia and India?
Research on interactions between families and frontline workers and coverage of life-saving interventions for mothers and babies was done in areas where Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation funded projects were being implemented. We carried out baseline and follow-up household and health provider surveys in each country. Results showed important gains in care provided, but also key gaps in newborn health.
Dr Tanya Marchant is IDEAS Co-Principal Investigator and carries out implementation science to improve the effectiveness of MNCH programmes. Her work covers three main streams: methodological work to improve measurement, the design and application of measurement strategies that incorporate multiple data sources, and supporting the use of evidence for decision making.
