The Office for Students (OfS) is the regulator of English higher education providers and do so on behalf of all students. See their regulatory framework and strategy for more details. The Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) is the designated quality body for higher education in England. A key reference point for LSHTM to assure and enhance the quality and academic standards of its provision is the UK Quality Code for Higher Education.
With the introduction of the OfS in April 2018 HE providers, registered with the OfS, must be able to demonstrate continually that they meet the conditions of registration through risk-based monitoring and random sampling reviews. The QAA is the Designated Quality Body who will conduct reviews of higher education providers and give advice on the quality and standards.
Under the previous regime, LSHTM underwent Institutional Review by the QAA in autumn 2012. The review report confirmed that at the time of review, the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine 'meets UK expectations' in all the judgement areas looked at by QAA - academic standards, quality and enhancement of student learning opportunities, and public information about the education we offer. The report can be found on the QAA website.
