Miss Lily Slanickova

Research Student - MPhil/PhD - Public Health & Policy

United Kingdom

Lily is a PhD researcher in medical sociology, working at the intersections of critical public health, the history of medicine and feminist science and technology studies. Her research investigates the social and epistemological dimensions of diagnosis in relation to ‘contested illness’. With a particular focus on how fibromyalgia is and has been shaped by medical classifications, patient experience and institutional practices.

Her work critically engages with questions of legitimacy, credibility and uncertainty in healthcare systems, drawing on sociological methods to explore how diagnostic categories evolve, operate and are experienced.
