Lara Moussa joined the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) as a PhD student through Bloomsbury funding and is a member of the Environmental Health Group within the Faculty of Infectious Diseases. Her research focuses on the intersections between climate change and acute malnutrition in the Sahel region, with particular attention to women’s empowerment. Through her work, she seeks to understand how climate change affects women’s health, caregiving capacity, and ability to provide adequate nutrition.
Lara’s research is informed by the One Health concept, through which she aims to bridge human, animal, and environmental health and highlight the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration in addressing complex global challenges.
She has published several papers in the areas of ecosystem conservation, environmental health, biodiversity, and climate change, and has developed strong expertise in remote sensing techniques to support environmental conservation. Lara has also volunteered with multiple organisations, including the World Federation of Public Health to support One Health research, and Healthwatch Cambridgeshire and Peterborough to contribute to community engagement and local health initiatives.
