Yunus is a senior clinician in the discipline of paediatrics and children's health who aims to optimise children's survival by integrating clinical work with biomedical research, particularly in infectious disease epidemiology. These diseases have been identified as one of the leading global causes of morbidity and mortality in paediatrics, with a disproportionate burden on children aged <5 years residing in low and middle-income countries. Hence, this triggered him to be enrolled as a part-time research degree MPhil/PhD student in the faculty of epidemiology and population health, Department of Infectious Disease Epidemiology at LSHTM. He enrolled in the school in January 2022 and conducted his upgrade in May 2023
