Dr Thea Hope-Johnson

Clinical Research Fellow

United Kingdom

I am a Clinical Research Fellow in the department of Health Services Research & Policy at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM). I currently work on the NIHR-funded TACTIC study (Timeliness of Access to Cancer Treatment- Improving Care), investigating how NHS waiting times for cancer treatment can be improved.

I have a research interest in improving health services, both in the UK and globally, through training of healthcare professionals and quality improvement initiatives. My clinical background as a Clinical Oncology registrar has led me to focus on developing cancer services.

In addition to my clinical practice, I have undertaken an NHS England Improving Global Health Fellowship, working in the central Eastern Cape, South Africa to improve inter-hospital referral practices and an internship at the WHO Regional Office for Europe, reviewing performance indicators in breast cancer screening programmes.
