MSc Public Health - Health Services Management streamContact Zara Shaikh
I have a bachelors in Global Health and Social Medicine from King's College London. Following my undergraduate, I worked with WHO EMRO for 6 months in the Mental Health and Substance Abuse Department as a mental health intern.
Research interests or career goals
My research in the past has primarily focused on global mental health and mental health related policy. Over the past few years, I have been focusing on the health and well-being of migrants and refugee groups. Specifically, this includes the prevalence of mental health disorders among these groups and looking at the available interventions and treatment programmes. My research has been UK-based as well as in emergency contexts around the world.
Why I chose LSHTM/my course
LSHTM is world-leading institute of public health and you get taught by the people who have been conducting important research and writing all the relevant books. There is so much diversity at the School in terms of projects and research interests that everyone will be able to find at least one person to speak to regarding their interests. This is what attracted me the most to LSHTM.
