MSc Public Health - Health Services Management streamContact Tisha Dasgupta
I graduated from the University of British Columbia in 2019 with a Bachelor of Science in Integrated Sciences (Genetics and Neuroscience). My professional experience includes working as a research assistant for various health service projects, specifically targeted towards improved access to and quality of care for mothers and children, both in Canada and in Uganda.
Research interests or career goals
My research interests lie in the field of maternal and child health. My career goal is to work in policy planning and health service management for developing counties. I am passionate about achieving equitable access to health care for all populations.
Why I chose LSHTM/my course
My undergraduate genetics coursework taught me the burden of disease on an individual level, but I found myself more interested in its implications on a population level. Therefore, I chose to pursue the MSc Public Health to gain foundational skills in the basic competencies of public health. I chose the Health Services Management stream because I am particularly interested in the intersecting ways in which socio-economic factors affect health globally, the role of health organisations, and ways in which health systems can be improved. I chose LSHTM because of the wide-spread recognition and reputation it enjoys, the amazing networking opportunities available, and it being the centre of innovative and impactful research.
