MSc Health Policy, Planning & FinancingContact Roubitha David
I recently graduated with a Bachelor of Sciences in European Public Health from Maastricht University. While studying, I worked as the Dutch national coordinator for Universities Allied for Essential Medicines, and also led their policy taskforce in Maastricht. As a member of my faculty’s Honours programme, I spent 2 years working on a research project commissioned by Alzheimer Centrum Limburg to analyse and recommend ways for improving the access to care for dementia patients. I have also conducted research for an Indo-Dutch collaboration to find suitable health literacy interventions for the Indian population.
Research interests or career goals
My previous education and experiences have inculcated in me a desire to work towards improving access to healthcare and my interest lies mainly in health systems and polices in low- and middle-income countries. I hope to use my knowledge and skills to devise policies that ensure that healthcare systems are sustainable, efficient and equitable. My other areas of interest include conflict and health and mental health policy.
Why I chose LSHTM/my course
The MSc Health Policy, Planning & Financing was always my first choice as it is perfect for anyone seeking a deeper understanding of global health, the policies that influence it and the measures needed to sustain health systems. The programme is unique in both content and structure as it is taught by two world leading institutions. Both LSHTM and LSE undoubtedly offer an inspiring faculty and an extremely diverse and experience-rich student body to learn from and learn with!
