MSc Veterinary EpidemiologyContact Rosanne De Jong
I graduated from the University of Glasgow with a BSc in Veterinary Biosciences in 2019 and decided to come straight here to do my Master’s. Whilst studying, I was part of various research projects where we looked at the presence of infectious diseases in animal populations and these really sparked my interest in veterinary epidemiology.
Research interests or career goals
I am particularly interested in doing disease risk analysis and I would love to pursue a career which would allow me to apply my epidemiological knowledge in the fight against infectious diseases which constitute a threat to endangered wildlife populations and/or as zoonoses. However, I will definitely use this year to further identify my interests.
Why I chose LSHTM/my course
Apart from it being one of the few European institutions which offers a taught course in Veterinary Epidemiology, I also really liked the fact that this course is joint between LSHTM and the RVC. Both universities are world leading within their field and since having started this course I can confirm that it truly does benefit from the incredibly quality of teaching and academic facilities at both institutions. Additionally, I was drawn to the fact that both schools have a very diverse student body, both in terms of academic background and nationality, and this makes it a great and intellectually stimulating learning environment.
