MSc EpidemiologyContact Rita Iskandar
I graduated from the Lebanese American University (LAU) with both a B.Sc. in Biology and an M.D. and completed my medical internship at the LAU Medical Centre in Beirut. In parallel with my studies, I have accumulated experience in both basic science and clinical research and have been extensively involved in my community through organising awareness campaigns as head of the awareness committee on the Medical Students Association executive board.
Research interests or career goals
I have a keen interest in Dermatoepidemiology. My goal is to advance my career to become a clinician-scientist with expertise in Evidence-based Dermatology and Public Skin Care. Long-term, I aim to contribute to helping overcome impediments to healthcare and medical research in my home country Lebanon, in the tumultuous Middle Eastern region and beyond.
Why I chose LSHTM/my programme
I am honoured to have received a full scholarship through the Said Foundation to pursue the MSc Epidemiology course which provides me with a solid foundation for my upcoming doctoral degree. Also, the School itself has a lot to offer in terms of transferable skills training, career advice, impactful research opportunities and networking with the versatile student body and the leading experts, all in a down-to-earth and motivating environment (despite the current online learning!).
