Educational/professional background
I am a practising consultant ophthalmologist, specialising in corneal diseases at Lahan Eye Hospital. I have a strong interest in public health for eye care and wish to pursue a clinical career in public health.
Research interests or career goals
I have been working on a collaborative research project with the International Centre for Eye Health at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) since 2018. I am the lead in Nepal for this collaborative research program between LSHTM and NNJS (Nepal Netra Jyoti Sangh). My research interest area is mainly infectious diseases of the eye and cataracts.
Why I chose LSHTM/my programme
I felt the need to enhance my research skills while I was pursuing my research activities in collaboration with LSHTM. Globally, LSHTM is a renowned name for public health. Thus, I intend to enhance my academic and research related work through the MSc Public Health for Eye Care and be able to work for better eye health care and also increase research activities in ophthalmology in Nepal.
Additional information
I can provide advice on relocating for the course, especially with family. I can also advise those from ophthalmology backgrounds on what to expect from this course and its impact in clinical practice.
