MSc Reproductive & Sexual Health ResearchContact Rebecca Brambilla
I have a B.A. in Political Science and Sociology from the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universitaet Munich, and an MSc in International Development from the University of Edinburgh. I also have experience of volunteering and working for a number of Third Sector organisations in the UK and abroad.
Research interests or career goals
My main research interests are in the fields of sexual and gender-based violence and domestic abuse, and how norms, values and morals inform and sustain unequal gender relations. I would like to attune my career to my academic interests and be able to work in the development of robust prevention programmes as well as evaluating the effectiveness of different strategies to reduce the occurrence of phenomena such as rape, intimate partner violence, and female genital mutilation.
Why I chose LSHTM/my programme
I have always been passionate about the expansion of sexual and reproductive health and rights in low- and middle-income countries, and the potential that has in preventing and addressing SGBV. I chose the MSc RSHR in particular because I am interested in the role the health sector can play in curbing the incidence of these phenomena, and wanted to develop the necessary research skills to be able to carry out independent research and evaluation of interventions in this field.
